In celebration of R.E.A.D. in America Day, tell us about what you're reading. How is reading important to you? What would you recommend to others?

I'm currently re-reading parts of the Battletech book series (Malicious Intent is the one I'm working on now).  Reading is very important, it promotes creativity especially if you have to imagine what a character looks like.

My recommendation list?  Do you have a few hours so I can tell you all of them?
(Battletech/Mechwarrior, any Anne McCaffery, Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality, etc... the list goes on and on...)
